"I shouldn't be alive.

I'm not allowed to be alive."

✖️✖️✖️

Seventeen year old Augusta Patel is a secret. No one knows about her existence except her parents, and her twin brother.

In a post catastrophic world ruled by a ruthless Dictator, the laws become harsher and harder to keep. The main rule of society? Only one child per family. When twins like Ackerley and Augusta are born, the youngest of the pair must be left for dead outside the city walls, because of the limited amount of space within those walls, it is thought that population control is a necessity.

Augusta is the youngest of the two.

But she isn't dead, though as far as everyone else knew, she was lifeless outside those city walls.
