Malida's world shatters the day she loses her mother in a tragic car accident. In the wake of this loss, her father remarries the woman he cheated on Malida's mother with, and to make matters worse, Malida gains a half-sister-one she's never wanted to share her father's attention with. As she grows older, Malida struggles to reconcile her grief with the reality of her new family. She tries to move on, and even finds herself engaged to a man she believes she can trust, but her world crumbles once again when she discovers that her fiancé has betrayed her in the worst possible way: he slept with her half-sister, and worse, got her pregnant. On the day of her wedding, everything seems perfect-until it isn't. Heartbroken and betrayed, Malida can't bring herself to marry a man who has destroyed the trust she had in him. She disappears from the bridal suite, leaving behind only a note for her half-sister: Marry him instead. You deserve him more than I ever did. When Malida's half-sister reveals the truth to everyone, the wedding is called off. Anger and resentment fill the air as Malida's father, stepmother, and fiancé confront her. But Malida, finding herself caught in a storm of hurt, calmly reveals her half-sister's pregnancy, shattering whatever remnants of family unity remain. In the face of all this turmoil, Malida walks away from the life that once seemed so perfect, packing her bags and leaving behind a broken home.
