The Glow of Rivals

Jean had always wished to find his soulmate, to find someone's hands he could put his heart in. Ivan had always wished to be left alone to study and keep himself at the top of the class at his prep school.
With troublesome encounters, these two butted heads as seventh graders when they were put in the same class. Jean was always kind, but Ivan was cold since he was extremely shy and didn't handle social interaction in a good manner. Luckily, they didn't have to deal with each other again until eleventh grade. In eleventh grade, they found themselves in the same class again. This time it was switched, Ivan being kind, but still shy, and Jean being cold.
Issues arise between the two again for the first few weeks of their junior year, until something happens. What happened has a drastic impact on the two for it determines their future together. Can these two figure out how to handle the situation and resolve their issues together?
