Opal and her best friend, Shannon, have been inseparable since childhood. Opals mother had died when Opal was only three. And Shannon's mother had fallen head over heals for Opals father. They ended up getting married not long after Opals mom died. Of course she thought it would be cool to have someone to play with 24/7 but she was also destroyed by the fact her father could move on so quickly. Year after year Shannon and her bond became even closer. They did basically everything with one another. As time past Opals feelings start to all fall apart. She felt as she couldn't even look at Shannon nor her mother. It was a replacement for her mother. She gets furious with her father. And regrets him ever marring her step-mom. After weeks go by from this horrible phase, Opal decides to do something she will regret the rest of her life.
