AU: In a world where you age until you're 18, until you meet your soulmate so you can grow old together. Dan Howell has suffered a great deal. After getting into a car accident, his memory has wandered off and he spends his days wasting away as amnesiac in Baywood Mental Institution. But if he doesn't know anything about his life before the accident, then why does Faren, his psychiatrist, keep pushing him to tell her if he remembers anything? Who is Phil Lester and why is he a murderer? Why do bizarre visions and dreams haunt his sleep, and why can he not use regular kitchen utensils? Dan struggles to piece together his life, one leaf at a time, and must choose between the consequences of love and the reality of existence, finding what it truly means to become a Growing Tree.
