Every month the moon completes one full orbit around the earth.
Every year the earth rotates around the sun a single time.
A lunar eclipse can occur two to four times in a year when the moon is directly in the earths shadow so that no light from the moon can reach it.
A lunar eclipse will occur only during a full moon.
A solar eclipse will occur around twice a year when the moon is directly in between the sun and the earth outlining the moon in the suns rays.
A solar eclipse will occur only during a new moon.
A blue moon is the extremely rare second full moon of any month.
A blue moon occurs around once every three years.
However, around once every 19 years, there will be a second blue moon in a single year.
On this night around one hundred and eighty thousand children are born.
