They call her Shei.

According to the talks of the people of Samjin, a small village deep in the unexplored forests and mountains of Busan, every night as the clock strikes twelve, a beautiful young girl would appear at a small hut by an abandoned lake. She comes out of nowhere, appearing and disappearing out of thin air. They say she's a spirit, a girl killed by the evil hands of her birth father, thus seeking vengeance for her death. Some say she's a lonely soul, unaccepted by the earth for her sins and now roams the village she used to live in. But one thing is for sure; no one knows her real story.

Michael Valle, a young American journalist becomes intrigued by the infamous Samjin Legend. Just like many others before him. He decides to see it for himself, seeing no harm in doing so especially since it would help with his career. His curiosity leads him on a flight to Busan, South Korea with a fellow journalist and he soon learns that the legend is deeper than it seems.

Lucy Caldwell suffered a disaster in her childhood - her house was burnt, which turned fatal for her parents. She grew up in a children's house together with other orphans. She could never forget the fire incident and was sure her parents were murdered, so she always wished to investigate the case when she grew old enough. Lucy, like all the other children, frequents the Spirit School, where children are taught to control their inner spiritual energy. When they reach 15 years of age, they befriend spirits that reside in the vast Spirit Forest in East Land and receive the Bond Item - an object from them which permits them to summon their friends whenever they're in need. Each person is able to form a bond with a single spirit. However, there are certain spirits that never approach humans, are known as man-eaters and have marked severe borders on their territory, eating anyone who trespasses on them. Such is the clan of the tailed foxes - the Huli. Lucy has already reached 15 years, so she goes together with her classmates to the Spirit Forest to befriend a spirit and bond with them. However, while sitting around a bonfire and listening to her classmates' scary stories, she remembers the dreadful day of how her house caught fire in past and, worked up, she rushes off into the depths of the forest to cry off her anguish. But as elders often say, dense forests are definitely not a place for little children to run around, for the danger lies in every corner, as Lucy soon comes to realise... -- The ebook version of "The Guardian Spirit" is available on amazon.com. for $0.99 on the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FSRWVMZ -- The Paperback version is available on amazon.com. on the link: https://www.amazon.com/Guardian-Spirit-Guardians-Nine-Heavens/dp/1717875971/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=
