Mia Davis is a 17-year-old girl from Minnesota who has moved back to North Carolina. It is the first day of her new high school and she comes in contact with her ex-best friend, Isaiah Joe. He refuses to look at her, let alone talk to her. Mia believes that he hates her. But one day when Mia is about to fall to her death, Isaiah is suddenly there. He saves her life, and disappears. Mia soon begins to realise that she is smitten with her ex-bff when she defends him; he is blamed for something that he didn't do. She has questions for her old town, 'Why is this town so secretive?
