Before nearly forty thousand Jews were deported from Paris. Before Kate, and her family were kicked out of their own city, their own country, and shipped to one of the most notorious concentration camps in Poland. Despite their ill luck, Kate remains forever hopeful. But even the hopeful aren't entirely naïve.
