Cecelia Dumbledore prayed that he wouldn't look up, that she wouldn't see those eyes- see the age in them, the look of a man who'd seen too much. She feared seeing his eyes. After all, they say the eyes are the window to the soul. Most of all, she feared that he would see, and notice. Notice the haunted look in her eyes, notice the heartache, the glint of sadness alongside the hope that still remained. For as long as she had hope, Remus John Lupin could never see the flash of longing which seized her each time she looked at him. Longing for the past, for Sirius, for the family which had been torn apart. She feared that he would see. But more importantly, she feared that he would -notice-.
