I watch as the life drains out of her face. Her dark skin goes deathly pale and blood seeps out of her wound. Her eyes well up with tears but she fights them. I stroke her beautiful braids and let a single tear fall from my eye. She reaches up weakly and wipes it off. Flashing a smile she squeakily speaks "Thank you. I've never had a friend before."
