mary is in tenth grade when she starts talking to chris once again. the problem is, chris goes to a different high school.

Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. Throughout high school, Samantha has run into many situations where she felt connected to Oliver--ending up with the same locker his sister had, walking past each other everyday in the same spot, having many of the same friends, etc. But Sam had her heart broken one day in sixth grade when she finally realized her feelings for him on the same day that he asked another girl out.
