Her brother, mom, dad that she doesn't live with, aunt, uncle, basically her whole family, are pot heads. Her family isn't all that rich. But they have enough money to live and support them selves. For Hannah's 14 birthday she has a little party at her friends house. She meets a handsome young boy named Derek. Soon Hannah realizes what a broken heart and a messed up life feels like.

James watches Emma embarrass herself on multiple different occasions, And still wont explain why he is upset with her. But, after Sammi gets a football player to put a cockroach in Emma's hair in class, Emma runs out to leave. She then runs into James, who Offers to give her a ride home.
