When culture tells us what is appropriate, we accept it as the "views of the time". However, when do we, as human beings, draw the line of this popular acceptance? When--after we have questioned the structures of society--do we begin to stand up for our findings and challenge authority?
Metro Riverton, a highly intelligent, dramatically arrogant teenage boy, is faced with these questions when he begins to think critically about the society he lives in. Is it fair to categorize people into the class they were born in? Should society be allowed to assume a person's strengths, weaknesses, and intellect based purely on their genetics and the caste of their parents?

Note: I don't believe you need to read the first book but I think it'd be more fun if you did. (The Bad Boy's Secret) This story may be triggering at some points. If you have any questions regarding that please don't hesitate to message me. When you're a loser and friendless nerd you stick to what you're supposed to do. You get good grades, deal with the bullying and attempt to forget the past. But there are things an everyday nerd, such as myself should clearly not do. One: Don't crush on the most popular girl in school. Two: Be sure not to get sidetracked in your studies by including yourself in electives and such. Three: Don't get superpowers. Now what to do when, possibly, you might have done all the following listed above? This wasn't like a test where I just knew the answer. So you can imagine how long it took me to come up with the realization of what I should become. Or in other words, who I should become! Maybe I shouldn't have been begging for a change because this is a bit much...

Meanwhile, in the mountainous regions of District 2, Cato Hadley and Clove Kentwell have trained their whole lives for the Games. Nevertheless, their ambitions change when they, without meaning to, find themselves in the Games together. They are both determined to win. But if they don't, what will happen to them? The brainwashed tributes who land in New York City know nothing of who they are or where they are from. They do not remember Panem, or the Games, or even their own names. Imagine the second you're born, a consultant removes you from your mother's grasp and runs a battery of genetic and physiological tests on you. Thirty minutes later they give you a score out of one hundred which denotes your level of perfection. If your score is above eighty and you work hard to maintain that score you will have a charmed life; well fed, well-rewarded, spoiled. But fall below eighty and you're labelled Flawed, and life will not be so kind. Hannah is adopted by a Flawed family when her birth parents choose their social standing over their daughter and endures a life of struggle, hunger and service. One day Hannah is escorted to the regional government office and told that the Consultant who delivered her, who labelled her Flawed got it wrong! Now, she is being relocated back to her birth parents, to live as one of the Ninety-Five- all medically and legally judged as perfect. Entering this new life Hannah has an impossible decision to make which puts not only hers, but the lives of everyone she cares about at great risk.
