Pinky Promise

They say you never know what you have until it's gone. I didn't believe it until now. I remember the way his face fell as he looked at the fresh,swollen,red cuts on my Wrist. I think he knew they were due to our fight earlier that day. "I'll never leave you." He told me. I still remember the words he whispered for only me to hear. "Promise?" I asked him. "Promise." He told me. He took my pinky and latched it with his. "Pinky promise" he whispered. There I was kissing him on the back of a random pick up truck in late October. If only that's the way things stayed.
