"I-I think you should leave." I could literally see the life drain out of his eyes when I said that, his arms falling limply to his sides as he backed up, stepping down a couple steps from me. I don't know what possessed me to say that when he was so vulnerable and obviously telling the truth, but I couldn't tune out the voice inside my head screaming he couldn't love a fat cow like me. He couldn't love someone so useless, someone so ugly.
"I-yeah. I think you might be right. I-I'll talk to you later." James practically ran down the stairs, not turning around once as he left the house, the only sound left of him was the slamming of the front door.
