I saw the bouquet and said, "Noooo..." I shot the bouquet and and it exploded. Everyone looked at me, as I held the gun in the air, while the flower pieces were all over my pink chiffon bridesmaid dress. I looked at his icy azure colored eyes, and knew that at that moment, he knew.
For high school and college sweethearts, Makenzey "Kenzie" Reese Bowden and Camden "Cam" Thomas Steele, they both shared the same dream: To move out of their conservative town in Ohio, and to be a police officers in the big city. However, after college graduation, that dream seems to be miles away from Kenzie's mind. With a secret that only her best friend and sister knows, she moves west and never see Cam again.
Now, four years later, she's working as an undercover cop for the LAPD and trying to cover up the secret that still continues to haunts her. When she is assigned going undercover for a wedding, she finds out secrets are covered for a reason. But, as she sees an ex, she realizes that when secrets are covered up, people are likely to get burned.

A fanfiction based on a dream Rain wins a contest to be able to have one of the members from the famous Our Charm be her dance partner for a dance contest. It's up to her after dancing with all five of the guys which one will be her dance partner. During the dancing she becomes fast friends with the five of them, Luke even ends up falling in love with her during their dance. As she goes outside to get some air, she's confronted by a very shifty guy who wants to kidnap her and sell her since her father was famous before he passed. She's running and panicking, somehow she finds a way to call David, he rushes out and protects her but not before she's shot above her collarbone and stabbed a total of four times. Due to the accident she's not able to participate in the dance competition. Heart broken she keeps a good friendship with the guys. Brad ends up leaving because of his PTSD from the whole ordeal. She meets a new guy and becomes great friends with him, Luke is heart broken seeing the two become close and loses contact so he can move on. Seven years after the band split up and everyone lost contact, Luke decided to go ice skating where he sees Renae getting hurt by her skating partner. If he isn't shot full of daylight by gangster tommy guns, he'll drown in Bianca's perfumed embrace. It's enough to make a gumshoe readjust his fedora. ----- This noir flavored detective yarn is set 100 years back in time. It's a bit grittier than my usual breezy output. This story is basically clean and I did not flag it as mature. However, darker human failings (alcohol use, sexual desire, and violence) drive the plot. I don't dwell on those aspects, but it's definitely a story for grownups. The intended audience is new adult or adult. Winner! 2022 Amby Awards, Mystery and Thriller category.
