"Dream Catchers? Aedrel, what are you, 2? Dream catchers are a children's story, they aren't real, just like Santa."

"Jem, Santa is-"

"Seriously, grow up Ade. No wonder Asher dumped you, you're too childish. You never go to parties, never go to any social meeting, all you do is sit at home, fantasizing about made up characters and what not. It's time you became a woman and not a little girl"

"Jem i'm serious! I really saw a them! I'm NOT hallucinating this time -though i doubt i ever have- I legitimately saw-"

"You didn't see anything, Aedrel."

"But-"

"You saw NOTHING, you hear me? Nothing."

Aedrel lives in a relatively descent sized town called Hollowspeak, which is surrounded by the mythical forest Ya'gdrail. Rumors have it that Hollowspeak is one of the most popular meeting spaces for all sorts of mythical and magical creatures: werewolves, vampires, nymphs, faeries,etc. Of course those are just myths. Nothing of the sort happens there. None of the townsfolk believe in these fairy tales, saying that it drags to much unwanted attention. But the children's stories are still told, to keep the kids in check. These stories tell of magical beasts, horrendous monsters, and most of all about the Dream Catchers and their rivals the Nightmare Crawlers. The tales captivate the minds of the young, and Aedrel.

Aedrel is a young women who still believes in these old tales, and fantasizes about them, every second of the day, and often gets teased and brought down about it by the townsfolk, and even the ones closest to her. The only person who truly understands Aedrel is the Old Maiden, but everyone calls her crazy, so it wont do much good for Aedrel to hang around her. Everyday, she would believe less and less of the stories, until one night, that all changed.
