Simple. Zombies.
But, of course this book isn't only about zombies. I mean, how could a story about a post apocalypse not have love interests and a good plot line. With characters that you actually get attached to.
The writing gets way better farther on. Trust me.

The Scars We Bear
In almost the entire three years since the apocalypse started Koda has lived inside a compound, protected from the flesh eating monsters that inhabit the world. When a supply run goes wrong the injured Koda is saved by a man and woman she's never met. The man is unsure if the group can trust this girl who won't tell them where she came from, out of fear of them attacking her group. But after a traumatic incident Koda and the man are brought together, and to both their dismay they begin to care for each other. When she shares that she's part of a bigger group they both realize once she's healed she'll be leaving. They resist each other, knowing their time together is limited. Eventually, unable to stay away from each other any longer, they start a whirlwind romance. With him Koda feels more alive than she had in years. But soon she'll be fully healed and faced with a decision: does she stay with her handsome stranger? Or does she return to her friends and the safety of their compound?

No one loves fiction stories quite as much as Remi, but sometimes tales in books are made out to seem much better than they actually are. When a party is disrupted by a zombie outbreak Remi can barely believe it and all too soon she has to go from a lazy, awkward teenager to a killer. Everything around her begins to change and what once was supposed to be a great adventure turns into a tale of drama, love, and betrayal. Everyone she is fighting for aren't the same people they once were and Remi is changing too, but is it for better or for worse?
