~ I sat up quickly, drenched in sweat as my chest heaved quickly. My head spun from sitting up too quickly and the only audible sound was my alarm clock and my heavy breathing. I shook off the lightheaded feelings and quickly hit the off button. Silence filled not only the room, but the entire house. I'd been living along for almost two months after the death of my best friend, Scott. Sometimes I could still hear his laugher echoing through the halls. His fragrance stained the entire building. His bed was nearly made as usual, his closet full of his everyday tee shirts and pants. His shoes were still by the welcome mat. That's what drove me mad. The fact that it felt like Scott was still alive. It was even worse knowing that the death was my fault. ~
