On a vacation to visit her Aunt in Indiana Zoe's mother is murdered. Now, Zoe has to live with her Aunt Marla and try to pick up the pieces of her shattered life.

Fifteen-year-old Zoe Evans just finished her sophomore year and high school, and she was excited. Her mother had promise to give her the best summer of her life. She planned to take her to Europe and show her all the places she visited when she was young, but first they were going to make a stop to Boston where her Aunt lived and spend a week with her, but upon her arrival Zoe was left at her Aunt's home while her mother went out to plan a big surprise. The problem is Zoe's mother never came back. Her body was found the next morning, and it was up to her aunt's fiancé to solve the case.
Distraught over her mother's murder, Zoe is taken in by her aunt Marla who is the spitting image of her mother. The man who killed her mother is soon found, but there is a confrontation, and Zoe is nearly killed
