Katniss Everdeen has money. More or less, she's loaded. But she doesn't show it. That's why she has a small house in the city of Chicago. Shes offering another person stay with her, and have their own room for a cheap price, if they cant afford an apartment.
Peeta Mellark is broke. He's got cash, in his beat-up wallet. He can't find an apartment, and once he finds Katniss's offer, it's hard to resist.
