John Egbert is an angel who has wanted to play the important role of a guardian angel all his life. He finally asks his father, one of the guardian angels, if he could get some kind of test or something that he could prove he is good enough to be a guardian angel, and he eventually gets arranged to play this role for a human being, Karkat Vantas. He is given directions for where to find him, and while he is waiting in this location, a demon under the name of Dave Strider shows up. Now it wasn't like he was causing any trouble, but he did decide to hit on the totally hot angel just waiting around. John keeps trying to get the demon away from him before Karkat shows up, but he eventually gives up. So here John is, just trying to prove himself and not fuck up this test he was given while there is a demon hanging out, constantly flirting with him and the human.
