It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. Eva Henderson, a diligent and ambitious student with dreams of attending Harvard to study environmental science, leads a seemingly ordinary life in the quiet and rural town of Ashford Pines, Virginia. Her days are filled with schoolwork, spending time with her best friend Steph, and trying to navigate the typical challenges of high school life. However, everything changes one fateful night when Eva's world collides with the supernatural. On her way home from a visit to Steph's house, Eva encounters a mutated creature that has escaped from the secluded Ticonderoga Corporation's lab. In a moment of terror, the creature bites her, leaving her shaken and confused. Little does she know that this encounter will set off a chain of events that will alter the course of her life forever. As Eva grapples with the implications of her visions, she also finds herself drawn to Brian, the crush of her life. Despite her growing feelings for him, she is hesitant to reveal the truth about her experiences, fearing that he will think she's crazy. Meanwhile, the pressure of keeping her abilities hidden adds an extra layer of stress to her already complicated teenage life. Desperate for a return to normalcy, Eva longs to escape the chaos and uncertainty that has engulfed her world. She yearns for the simplicity of her former life, where her biggest worries were homework assignments and crushes on cute boys like Brian. However, as the danger intensifies and the truth behind the murders begins to unravel, Eva realizes that she can never go back to the way things were. With the help of Steph and her biology teacher Amyra, Eva embarks on a journey to uncover the secrets of the Ticonderoga Corporation and put an end to the terrifying visions that haunt her. Along the way, she must confront her fears, confront her feelings for Brian, and confront the dark forces that threaten to destroy everything she holds dear.

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258!
