[BOOK 1] What they have is messy, reckless, and impossible to walk away from🦋 ************* "I won't leave" I whisper, and he smiles, "I know, baby" he says softly, and my lips tug upwards into a smile. "You're the exception" he continued, his tone tender as he pressed a short, sweet kiss to my forehead. I didn't know it then, but I started falling in love with Finn Brookes, we were each other's exceptions. * * * Lily Garcia didn't come to university looking for love-especially not with someone like Finn Brooks. He's charming, infuriating, and a walking complication she doesn't need. But no matter how hard she tries to keep her distance, there's something about him that feels like gravity, pulling her closer with every encounter. Beneath his cocky exterior, she senses the fractures he tries to hide-the same ones she's been running from her entire life. Finn's been through hell, and love isn't part of the plan. He's good at keeping his walls high, locking out anyone who might get too close. But then Lily shows up, and suddenly his carefully controlled life begins to unravel. She's everything he didn't know he was missing, and that scares him more than he's willing to admit. But with their pasts threatening to destroy what they could be, and old friends trying to drive a wedge between them, trust becomes their biggest hurdle. And when a new love interest steps into the picture, everything Lily and Finn thought they were building starts to fall apart. Fighting their demons was never supposed to include each other, but now they have to decide if the risk of heartbreak is worth the reward of finally letting someone in.

"'Bye.' I say after Edwin's kiss. He gives me a small smile that honestly looks more like a grimace. It makes me a little uncomfortable having him kiss me in the library. Edwin walks away, and someone standing in the corner of my vision makes me turn in my seat. A tall, muscular man is standing there, his arms crossed, staring at me. He's got dark brown hair, perfect eyebrows, and soft brown eyes. Honestly, he's gorgeous. And since I've read, and edited, about five articles about him, I recognize him immediately. Dane Sawyer. He's the best pitcher on our baseball team. He's hoping to go pro, although I'm not totally sure what the process is surrounding that, since I don't retain much of the information from the articles that I read about him. I know that he's also a junior, and that his girlfriend is hot as fuck. I've seen them together on campus. They're hard to miss because they are easily one of the most attractive couples that I've ever seen. I'm convinced that I must be hallucinating, because he makes eye contact and walks towards me. 'That was awkward.'" ~~~ Junior year is starting off chaotic for Mackenzie Brooks as she steps into her role as the editor-in-chief of the college's newspaper. She's smart, focused on school, the paper, and her TA responsibilities. Junior year should be starting off easy for Dane Sawyer. He's the star pitcher of the baseball team; attractive, athletic, desirable, with a hot girlfriend. Unfortunately, he's also failing computer science which is the one thing he sees that is in the way of his pro career. Different in more ways that one, when the two run into each other in the library, it's an immediate disaster. But when Dane convinces Mackenzie to be his tutor, both of their lives begin to change.

After almost two years since the breakup, there wasn't a day that Mave didn't regret the decision he and Eisley made to end their relationship. He knows deep inside that he still loves her, but he's also aware that he's not yet deserving of Eisley. As he entered his fifth and final year in Engineering, he decided to win her back. He believes that this time, he can treat her better and finally give her what she truly deserves. However, how will he handle the news that Eisley is now entertaining someone new? Though devastated and regretful that the girl he has always loved has someone else now, he accepted the fact that he can only be her friend again. He's content with that, but deep down, he knows he still loves Eisley so much. That's why, when she started calling him again, he never stopped answering. He keeps chasing after her, even though he knows he will never be her first choice-that he will only be in her corner, waiting to be called when Ivan isn't around.
