Prologue

Katie Barberi was never a simple girl, ever since she was a kid wierd things had been happening to her. Animals would obay get, fire couldn't harm her and she could never figure  why. Her parents died when she was born Denieasia and Maverick Barberi. Her stepmother had told her that it was a planecrash, but she doubted it. The only person she liked out of her step faimily was her stepfather, Michale more, he was nice to her. Her life had been pretty trashy untill she met three people who became her best friends and the poleople
who she cared most about, Clare Verdi, Zoey Burgur and Michele Carcache. Soon after that when she lay asleep in her bed her dog started barking  she looked outside and a bright light infact more like a big hole she focused a bit and saw a figure, a woman she wore a pointy hat, suddenly she appeared right in front of her " h-how did you do.." Ashley was about to follow her but froze when three knocks echoed through the house. Trinity's torch illuminated the fear on both of their faces. Three more knocks. Ashley gently placed down Bingo. Another three knocks. Mustering all of her strength, Ashley made her way to the door, Trinity and Bingo right behind her. Ashley pulled back the knit curtain slightly and peered out the window, only to see black figures. She twisted the lock and opened the door ever so slightly. The moonlight was now their only source of light, Trinity's phone having just died, and even though it wasn't the brightest of all lights it was enough to make out facial features. The loneliness came gradually. I looked out towards the distant horizon, that beckoning, tempting horizon. It taunted me. It called to me. Never had I wished more for a pair of wings, and I knew that if I had wings I'd fly away and never look back. The city, school, the people I knew, they held nothing for me anymore. And I was nothing to them. I knew this in the way that the coldness of the buildings payed me no heed when I walked passed them. I knew this from the way I'd spoken less than twenty words to my family in the past week. I knew this in the way I walked through school, never stopping to greet anyone else, head down, shoulders slumped. My name is Koryn. That was me, less then a year ago. And then things changed. Someone who could actually help me showed up. They were there for me more than I even realized, even when I didn't deserve them. They are gone now. I don't know where. But in the short time I knew them, they made me realize that I could be okay.

I closed my eyes and tried to sleep again. A few minutes passed until somebody knocked on the door. "Marie," said the person who knocked on the door. "Let's go already!" Shoot, I forgot. No wonder I woke up so early. I quickly rose to my feet and rushed to the bathroom. "Marie! Are you even awake?" I didn't respond just yet because I was in the shower. A few moments later, the same person knocked on my door. "I've got the keys, Marie," she said. I could hear her shaking the keys outside my door. "You can't stay asleep forever!" Hurriedly, I placed on my blue blouse and pants. I grabbed the brush from the bathroom and started to comb my dark brown hair. Rushing to the door, I opened it to see my friend Ranie Accendo. I eyed her gray blazer over her white shirt, pants, and boots. "What took you so long?" she asked. "Nevermind that." I shook my hand dismissively. "Where are we going? If it's not important, I'm going back to bed." "To the forest." "The forest? Why?" Now that she is at home and back to school everything is too much for her to handle. Kayla tries to commit suicide and then is forced to move out of her house. It's all a roller coaster from there.

"Nobody in particular." I seemed to say easily, even though I was in fact, here to watch Jason and my dad. "I mean, everyone. I know a lot of people. Small town." I tried to correct myself immediately, and I noticed Hannah holding back laughter as I stumbled on my words. "Gotcha." He said, still smiling wide and taking a glance back at the field. "Good to see you again, Katiya Kate." This time he said it as if it were one word. It made me smile on the inside. He turned and jogged back towards his team. I was such an idiot.

It bothers me that I haven't been able to hate you for walking out on me... and then you have to hide with all the pain... I just wished you told me," he told her and took a step closer. She had looked up at him and her heart shattered even more. The whole group was there watching there fight but didn't even have words for any of it. Phoenix was the only one who knew about everything. The kids, her sister, her parents, all of it. Pheonix had watched her break down over and over and over, but she didn't realize how much it might have hurt her to see the one person she had loved her whole life. "I'm sorry, Bradley but I have to go," she turned around and passed the whole group. She didn't bare to change in the lockers but headed straight to her car.

A single choice changes the whole story. Stiles moved away from the flashlights and cadaver dogs as he wasn't necessarily excited to get caught by his father. He had gone the exact opposite direction of the barking and beams of light and now he was lost somewhere in the woods with Scott, his asthmatic best friend beside him. who was taking a puff from his inhaler for every third step and it was irritating to say the least. It felt like they had been wandering around for a long time, when they came across a gigantic wolf. It could have been the sighting of a Wolf in California for the first time in 60 years. He could have taken a pic to prove it but the wolf seemed to hate the idea. So they ran. They ran while bleeding from it's bites.
