The Kingdom is falling because the Queens evil ways have become soft.
After thousands of lonely years, the Queen yearned for the love of a child, one as special as hers. She vowed she would not change, that the child would become greater than her. She did not expect the child's birth mothers good ways to shine through after 18 years.
The Queen is desperate to be herself again and have control of her kingdom. The child, on the other hand, is ready to use her gifts for the people and defy against her mother.
