Some are tricked into a bargain. Some are too desperate to refuse. Eighteen-year-old Ines Santoro is betrayed. Welcome to the Green Court, where magic is plentiful, escape is impossible, and mistakes are deadly. Its elven rulers may look divine, but they anger easily, so be careful not to spill any drinks, or breathe too loudly. Mortals rarely last long in their company, but four years into a life sentence, Ines has perfected the act of a dutiful servant, accepting every order with a smile on her face. That is, until she is caught committing high treason by the mad dog prince. But Silas has no intention of killing her. A deadly curse is waking, rotting the king by day and turning him into a bloodthirsty beast by night. And Ines, an ordinary girl with no connection to the curse, is the key to breaking it. Blackmailed into his service, Ines must follow Silas into the dark underbelly of the Green Court. There, the unlikely pair form a dangerous bond-one never meant to begin or last. In the palace, all that glitters hides a rotten core, and the royals are no exception. But then again, neither are the servants.
