The war is over, but the battle is still being fought.
The Dark Days of Panem are over but nothing is looking brighter. The Capitol has just squelched the fires of the rebellion and ended the war. President Dane has announced the Hunger Games; his solution to keeping the districts in line and Aldera Clearwater is District 11's tribute. She must travel to the Capitol with 23 other inexperienced tributes to train for their fight to the death in The First Annual Hunger Games.

Her and the boy from her district are being overlooked. Between all of these problems is Amber, a 16-year-old girl from District 5 of Panem. With little training for the Games compared to the other tributes, winning will be difficult. Victory is low in chances, and for Amber, it seems like she will never get there. Despite her problems that could very well be fatal, she fights hard. But will a little inexperienced girl win against advanced fighters who have been training their whole lives? The games had been happening for years. Players were teleported into an arena and forced to fight to the death while people all around the world watched. At first, they thought they would respawn, like they had when they had played Survival Games in different hubs. But this hub was different. They soon realized that this was no game. Skyler never thought that she would be the one picked for the games. Of course, nobody thinks that they're going to be the one. But that's never the case. Each year, a boy and a girl from each district are going to be sent to their death. It's rare that a tribute from District 10 actually comes out alive, which is why Skyler isn't hopeful. They teach her things about survival and fighting that she never knew before, and they stay with her as her allies throughout the entire game. They fight together, they protect each other, and they care about each other. The crushing truth, however, is that only one tribute can win. It has been a century since the rebellion, and the Capitol still wants revenge... As it is the Fourth Quarter Quell, there will be four games held this year. One will be held with twenty-four children reaped from Districts One to Four. The second will have twenty-four children reaped from Districts Five to Eight. The third will have twenty-four children reaped only from Districts Nine to Twelve. There will be six tributes reaped from each of the twelve Districts, and eight people will win each of the three Games giving us twenty-four finalists to take part in the Ultimate Games where only one will prevail victorious. Overall, seventy one children will die in this years Hunger Games and one will survive.
