It felt like a burden against her skin, but a lingering safeness remained. Perhaps it was just guilt in disguise, but she put up with it all the same.
Guilt made her human.
Even if it was just a lie, pretending to be human was the only thing that kept her from tearing the necklace right off of her person.
It grounded her, reminded her that she wasn't human. The jewelry now housed her darkest, most inhumane secret.
So, it stayed.
For now.

After the death of a loved one, Natasha has fallen off the earth. No one has heard from or seen her in weeks. A few concerned friends band together to try to find her, knowing that whatever she's fallen into shouldn't be taken on alone. Yelena and Clint know their friend and sister is just struggling to cope, trying to shut everyone out in order to do so, like they know she does. They also know she can't stay hidden like this forever. The biggest catch? They aren't the only ones after her. Accusations have been brought to the surface which may be difficult for the group to disprove, but it also may be the only way to truly save her. Can they protect their friend when even they can't track her down? Can they find her before the ruthless government fulfills their promise to hunt her down?
