All her life Alia has been alone. Abandoned in the hollow of an oak tree when she was less than week old, she spent five years of her life bouncing from foster home to foster home. When Alia turned six, she saw something. Something they told her that was not real. Something that made them lock her away. Something that earned her a one way ticket to a psychiatric hospital.
Twelve years Alia has spent locked up in the children's psychiatric hospital, her days passing in a haze of drugs and boredom. But now she is eighteen, and it is time for her to go to an adult facility with better drugs and more boredom. The loneliness of the last twelve years is consuming her, trapping her in a ladder-less pit.
But things are changing. Her new life is only just beginning. A war is coming.
