Tessa Black and Michael Clifford had been friends since they were infants, but one year when they were freshmen Michael discovered he had feelings for Tessa. Michael knew Tessa didn't feel the same, he was so hurt. Michael had been bullied by the popular guys for being friends with Tessa. Michael wanted to fit in with the populars, while Tessa did not.
