Her mom died in a fire on the sixth month marking of her little brother's life.
Her brother, Josh, is killed during a hunt so Ash has no place but Bobby's to go.
That's were she meets them.
The Winchesters.

But it is much more than that. It is a mystery story as well, with elements of suspense and surprise.
