In this anthology series, Nietzsche's Ubermensch comes to life. His hair is nappy, his nose is broad, and his complexion kissed by the sun. With a clap of her hands, she causes hurricanes. As her fingers snap, time slows. He can speak and create, and she can dream and destroy. The Superman is real, and they are an African. In this anthology series, we'll bear witness not to their epic exploits, but to the mundane melancholies of life in a world where Black kids can stop bullets, read minds, and fly. Welcome to the Afro-Future, today! Chapter 1: In "An Urban Legend Has It..." we meet Othello Richard Shannon, aka the super-speeding hero in a XXXL red hoodie, Dynamic! He didn't used to mind getting clowned in his civilian life since he has two A-One, Day-Ones that he can depend on to lift his spirits. But lately, this hero's been feeling like a third wheel. Chapter 2: In "The Stupendous Adventures of the Super Union" a team of superheroes gathers for the funeral of one of their own, Aspiration. Tensions run high as they discuss the impromptu sexual assault trial that led to Aspiration's death and the dismissal of one of their teammates. Chapter 3: In "Interrogation", young archivist Zaraz is asked to record and transcribe the interrogation of Regicide--the famous supervillain and archenemy of King Soul. The villain makes a lot of wild claims about King Soul's past, but surely they couldn't be true. Chapter 4: in "CRISIS of Faith" It wasn't easy for humanity to accept the existence of superhumans. But our narrator was lucky enough to be born in a time of peace between those with and those without powers. There are systems in place which help keep interactions running smoothly. That's the intention, at least.

"Stop pretending to be an idiot, idiot." Ouch. It burns. "You're starting to sound like a dear old friend of mine," she adds, her tone implying that her "friend" isn't so much of a "friend" as a mortal enemy who she probably also dragged into an alley on multiple occasions. Because she must be a fan of alley-dragging. Theater major. "I bet that friend was super amazing," I retort anyway. "She'd have to be to put up with you." Oh! Snap! I grin like an idiot at my own joke, realize how uncool that is, and then quickly rearrange my face into a frown. "I'm sorry. I don't quite understand. You're supposed to be a superhero, so why are you threatening a fellow superhero? Isn't that kind of against our code or whatever?" "You don't have a code. Superheroes who follow codes don't drop off information about people's allegedly dead sons at their doorsteps and then run." Well, can't say she doesn't have a point there. -- After being framed for the horrific murder of Birchwood City's most revered superhero's six year-old son, Maya Waterman abandons her super-villain persona and finds herself lost without any sense of identity and purpose. Being hunted by a vengeful super is hard enough, but after her employer fires her and she's evicted from her apartment, Maya begins to become something she had prayed she would never become again- helpless. She needs nothing less than a miracle to save herself, and much to her surprise, she gets just that-- even if it entails her trying her hand at becoming a good guy for once.

The Assasins Struggle

19 parts Ongoing Mature

Damian Wayne, the son of Batman and heir to the Demon Head, has a problem. Well, two, really. Both of them are magic related. One is connected to the beautiful, raven-haired, purple-eyed, half-demoness, Raven. The other is connected to the Egyptian god of death, Anubis, and the fact that he is currently 'possessed' by him. But he'll soon find he has a much more major problem. Alaina Keller, or Alnamir, has never had a normal life. Ever since she was born she was a member of the League of Assasins. When her mother died when she was 2, she was taken care of by Talia Al Ghul. She became the best assassin they had before she was even 16. She's always had a purpose but now that she's been freed by her brother, Damian, she doesn't know her purpose. But a certain Superboy might help with that. I ONLY OWN TIA KELLER AND ALIANA KELLER!! ALL THE REST BELONG TO DC EXCEPT FOR ANUBIS. He's just from history I guess. I do own the plot though. :) The Anubis Idea technically belongs to @Bats_1213 from her book A Pain Most Wonderful, which is wonderful. (Hehe, get it?) WARNING!! All I know of DC is from Young Justice, YouTube, and fanfics, but this is technically an AU so I guess it works. Just read at your own risk and feel free to correct me on things. There are also some trigger warnings such as attempted cutting and attempted suicide but there will be warnings ahead of time. And some cussing.
