Victoria Clydell is struggling in Sacramento. Everything is work, school, sleep, eat, work, sleep, eat, work... She has no time for herself and busying either working for money, or spending that money on rent in the big city.

While at work, keeping busy watching the clock and attempting to not fall asleep, she finally gets a customer after several daylight hours, now into the night. He comes in with full silence, barely changing the atmosphere from before. His outfit shows that he probably hangs out in dark alleys hiding from society; or the police. And now he has come into the dim light of the café for the first time.

At first, he seems like just someone who has to finally get something to eat after his long life of shadows, but soon after, she figures he has something way more on him. He doesn't look up, he doesn't drink his ordered water.

Soon, he leaves. Allowing the café to return to its normal state of undisturbed quietness. And when Victoria is given her leave, she takes not time get out of the place. She grabs her bags and rushes out, but she doesn't really make it as far as she hoped.
