He looked serious, his mind strained with thought. His eyebrows pressed down through his eyes, his lips pursed. 

His gaze suddenly shifted towards my direction, our eyes met. He faced me and gave me the sweetest smile that I have ever seen in years.

I looked around to check if I was mistaken,  if he meant that smile for someone else.

But no one was there.
