For Matthew Flynn, surviving in the cold, merciless city of New York is his only priority. The only way he can survive is pick-pocketing strangers along the way, grabbing anything he can use to find food and shelter. One morning, he gets this strange feeling to find something. Or someone. After his strange urges lead him to a woman claiming to be Demeter, goddess of agriculture, his only response is disbelief. After meeting with the Council of the Gods, Matthew Flynn, a homeless young teenager is told that he is the demigod, son of the God Hermes. Even more so, he is given the duty to help find the stolen anchor of Hermes, believed to be one of the key to Hermes' immortality. Off course, with every problem come obstacles. As Matthew Flynn faces each trial with Death, he discovers himself along the way. Will Matthew Flynn come to save the day, save his father who abandoned him and ultimately, find his true purpose in life?

Ever since Paige was little, she's been able to see people's sorrow like a cloud hanging over their heads. Now it's coming in pretty handy in her job. Which is saving the world, obviously. Paige has never really belonged. Growing up in the foster system in Chicago would have been hard enough without seeing everyone's pain like a never-ending storm. It was better to be alone than to deal with that. But Ari, a student in her Classics class, is different. And when the roof of their classroom inexplicably comes crashing down, he tells her why. They're both distant descendants of the Greek gods. And the gods are angry. After millennia of being ignored and relegated to history books and Disney movies, the gods of Mount Olympus are wreaking havoc on earth as punishment for man's hubris. Ari and Paige travel to the mystical lands of Olympus to try the only thing you really can't do. Kill the gods.
