After he somehow managed to reunite with Joe, Vito decides the best way to avoid any more conflict is to get out of Empire Bay for good. There were no final goodbyes before the two slipped out from under Frank Vinci's grasp and embarked on their great escape in the form of a road trip across America. 

While on their trip, they discover things about themselves, meet new people, and make plans for the future. While their intention was to escape Empire Bay for good, they decide whether or not they want to keep traveling around the states, or form an alliance to get back at don Vinci.
