Donquixote Murphy, is the son of Marine Commander Donquixote Rosinante and Marine Commander Campbell Orla. They both love their son and hate to see him hurt or upset. Rosinante goes undercover in his older brother, Donquixote Doflamingo, pirate crew to monitor his activities and report back to the man who raised him, admiral Sengoku. Because of this, Rosinante missed out on his son's childhood and being a father, and being a husband to his wife. It wasn't until his death did Murphy truly know what kind of person his father was, but didn't know who it was who killed him. It wasn't until the death of his mother did Murphy know that his own uncle, Doflamingo, was the one who killed them.

Eleven years after the death of his father and nine years after the death of his mother, Murphy himself is also part of the Marines, much to his unwillingness. During his own time undercover he meets the Straw Hat Pirates and alias himself with them for a short period of time. It's later during the Marineford War that he joins forces once again with the Captain of the Straw Hats, Monkey D. Luffy, stripping himself of his Marien status and reveals his full name. His new goal is to make his uncle pay for the death of his parents and he'll alia himself with anyone to see that he does.
