Tyler, being a very active person, hates the fact that Dan is always cooped up in his room.

When they go swimming in the sea together, Tyler swims about easily but Dan nearly drowns leading him to develop a hatred towards water.

Scared for his friend's well being, Tyler sets up swimming lessons with a friend of his for Dan.

Dan doesn't want to learn to swim, especially when his smiley instructor Phillip Lester, a professional, is there.

Dan claims that he hates his swimming instructor, Phillip, who always insists he call him "Phil" but Dan's stubborn streak refuses.
