Muus is only a thrall, a chattel without rights, but he knows the small, blue shard he picked up belongs to him alone. His commonsense saves their lives from cold and starvation.

Kjelle, heir to the Lord of a rich mininghold, is spoiled, and covetous of his thrall's tantalizing find. His greed causes an avalanche that leaves both young men marooned on an icy mountain slope.

Birthe, young wisewoman and huntress, mother of baby boy Búi, is brave and clever. She knows her way through the snowy wilderness of the Norden and her songs are filled with magic.

Now the three young people are bound together on a danger-laden journey to a lost and burning land, where Muus needs to connect the skyshard to the Kalmanir, the standing stone that is the world's wellspring of all magic. The Kalmanir's time is almost up and it urgently needs to be replenished before the magic of Gods and men runs out. The two boys have to learn to trust each other, for all around them, enemies abound. Rebels threaten both the kingdom and Kjelle's holding, and a tribe of mad idolaters is trying to recall the banned primordial Old Gods. Even more imminent is Muus' danger, for it comes from nearby, from the shard itself.

An action-packed adventure in a snowy land full of betrayal, rebellion and danger.

A Queen for the Frost Giant (Legends of Rahasia Book 0) by FaeWhit
51 parts Complete
The giant beneath the mountain has awakened after three centuries' slumber and devours some of my fathers' best men every morning. He will continue taking lives, one for every giant our ancient ruler killed to steal his land. But I know this ice giant, this jötunn, as Fell Hallvarðr. He came to me as a regular boy in dreams. He rumbles towards the citadel, tall as five men stacked shoulder on shoulder, I hold out a hand. "Fell Hallvarðr," I call out, ignoring the screams of horror from the warriors around me, "I place you under my royal protection, as the old ways of Cloelia Regina called upon. None of my people shall harm you so long as I live." The people cry out against me, but Fell falls to one knee, dropping me gently to the earth. "Then you shall live, little human-traitor." He replies, "in return for what?" "I shall become queen. And you shall fight for me." * Queen Cassia is a royal embarrassment. People snicker at her, knowing her lungs are too weak to draw breath, much less fight. Her parents fear she will not have the strength to undergo the ceremony to become queen, and that the royal line will have to be passed to an outsider. But all this is disrupted when the giant beneath the ice mountain, thought to be a myth, awakens and attack their city of Ymir. The rest of the cities along the Borealis are in rebellion against the main kingdom of Idriola, and Cassia aims to earn her birthright by uniting them all. * Prequel to "Legends of Rahasia Series" (Priestess for the Blind God, Princess for the Witch Doctor, Pirate for the Dead Goddess). This is the tale of how Cassia became Cassia Boadicea Regina of Idriola, the ruler of blood and ice. The fearsome matriarch of the North & conqueror-queen. An unknown force sent him to the forgotten city of Hydra and there he stumbled upon an ancient tomb of a Slaad lord. He accidentally unlocked. Curiosity got the best of his fear as he pushed deep inside. Unknowingly he awoke one of the most vicious and cruel Slaad lords in Azurdenean history. Their chance encounter broke an illusion that altered many peoples memories. Not before he awoke the Slaad lord, Rickalas took a ring that was stolen from him. How it was inside a tomb sealed for thousands of years was beyond him. Word of Trolls book 1 - Trollbound ch. 1-3 by WordHunter
1 part Complete
The Word of Trolls is a fantasy series, broken into three parts, that draws its inspiration from the Norse folklores, with trolls, draugs, the hulder and the northern lights all playing their vital part. It is a story that explores human's close relation with nature, setting them up as two opposing forces. Which side will win in the end? At the centre of the world stands the enormous mountain Várri, the only true mountain in the land, and said to be the Trolls' final resting place. For centuries, a hulder, a woman with a tail, has preserved the balance in nature, but one day a boy of 17 finds a hidden tunnel that leads to this woman. The woman claims he has the gift to give life to baby trolls. He is appalled by the idea, yet soon becomes a father to a baby troll. On top of Várri, in Snowfall, the Kvínnús chooses their men, and the tribe is led by a Trollkvínnú (spiritual leader). Trollkvínnús has the ability to see the future within the northern lights. Kvínnú Áila (15), a strong-willed girl, is at 16 destined to become the tribe's next Trollkvínnú, after her mother. The king of the lands below the mountain however, wants her as the land's princess. Stolen at birth, Tiril Stone (17) was brought to Cod Tongue by her uncle. All her life she has breathed fog and had difficulties finding balance on land. Life on the small fishing island is brutal. Tiril is forced to take up the oars in order to pay for her family's debt. Out at sea, she realises she can attract fish by touching the water, but using her abilities also builds up a storm. She comes close to drowning but is saved by a draug, sailing in his half-boat.
Drakablod Sogur: An Eternal Hope by EMMS813
26 parts Complete Mature
Six hundred years ago, the world-- reborn from Ragnarok-- was nearly destroyed in an Uprising led by the Great Usurper, the Lord of All Evil, Vandr. The nine heroic Drakahalr rose to stop him, but could only imprison him before their deaths. Prophecy foretells of a time when they shall both return, and throw the world into a mighty war... But none of that is Bjalla's problem. Her issues come from being an escaped thrall, forced into pirating and working her fingers to the bone in the Black Markets. Stuck in her awful reality with her is her brother Jarl, and sister Alf, a long with their mother and grandparents. Jarl wants to be an einherjar, Alf a bard, and more than anything, Bjalla wishes to one day become a dragonrider-- a thought her siblings scoff at. When an opportunity presents itself to earn their freedom in a gladiatorial competition, the triplets leap at the chance: but it all may be for nothing, as they are unprepared. Jarl is strong, but undisciplined. Alf is smart, but her overconfidence leads to many mistakes. Bjalla is too weak, barely capable of lifting her sword, let alone swing it. And now she's found herself intrigued by the dangerous rogue Hrafnfar, the daemish dragonrider, against all of her mother's warnings. Their biggest problem is trusting their teammates. Thankfully, there's six months of training before the fights begin... but a little voice inside Bjalla's head that sounds horribly like the duke that imprisoned her keeps insisting that she will NEVER be good enough.
