Will she catch the killer before he kills again or will this case get the better of her and cost not only her job but her confidence as a detective?

But will she be able to stay her her proper, sensible self, when Cole is attacked and almost killed? All three need to catch the killer, for purposes more than just profession. Everybody has something at risk, somebody's life at risk. But what to do when the only lead is a mental patient who can't even talk? The roller coaster takes a turn in a complete new direction, and takes Caroline, Marcus and Kaitlyn along, to discover things they could've never perceived.Complete

She is an orphan and grew up in a Home for Magical Children on Mage Island, floating in the middle of the Pacific. Under constant watch and scrutiny from the Guild, Claire now finds herself working side by side with a Black, the very family that was breed to become mage assassins, killing thousands of her people. The fact that the Black is also a handsome man does not help Claire's case at all. Raven has nothing to do with his family and yet is hostile to Claire upon finding out she's a mage. He worked as a detective to make sure everyone had equal justice but when he got his new partner Claire his world is thrown upside down. Not only is she a mage whom he silently despises but she's also the most beautiful woman he's ever laid eyes on.
