"I want you Elodie," he whispered, his lips grazing the sensitive spot right behind ear.

My whole body shivered.

"Tell me to stop, Elodie," his voice huskily commanded.

Don't stop.

I closed my eyes.

Here I was, deciding between the two people whom I loved in this strange, afterlife world. How could I be dead, yet feel so alive? I opened my eyes, keeping them fixed on the evening sky. In the midst of it all, I escaped into my own world.

And began counting stars.

Ali Baker once adored her pack-until her mother's death forced her father to flee, shattering her world and leaving behind her best friend and first love, Ronan Black. Years later, she turns down Ivy League offers to attend college back home, determined to discover if Ronan is her fated mate. He is-but he already has a girlfriend. As undeniable feelings and their bond resurface, Ronan is torn between loyalty and destiny. When a dangerous vendetta emerges, targeting Ali, the two must fight for their love and their lives, forcing Ronan to confront the dark legacy of his father's past before it destroys them both. **** 'No! No! No! This is not happening!' Ronan panicked as he spoke to me through our mate bond. I could hear the defeat in his voice as I was taken further and further away from him. 'I want you to know that I love you, Ronan. These past few months have been the happiest of my life. I only wished I could have returned the favor to you.' 'Don't say it like you're saying goodbye.' He was in full distraught now. Ronan's voice was breathy and cracked as he spoke to me. 'I'm not. I know you'll find me again.' 'Yeah, I promise. I'll find you, baby. Hold on, ok?' 'I will. I will wait for you. I love you.' 'I love you too, Ali, more than anything. Please just keep -' Suddenly, I was alone. The mate bond was a funny thing. It had its limits. The bond worked like a rubber band. When we were close to each other, it pulled and strained against us, pulling our souls together and allowed us to hear the other's thoughts. That bond allowed us to feel the other's emotions and pain. It was a fantastic thing to be a part of. However, just like taking a rubber band and pulling it as far as possible, it loses strength before breaking entirely. Warning: Story contain graphic details of violence, torture, sexual activity, and curse words.

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258! "I only have one request if you're going to keep me in suspense all day long." "What's that?" The movement of her lips drew his eyes down. "Let me kiss you again?" 14 parts Complete Mature

[NOW TRADITIONALLY PUBLISHED WORLDWIDE] "A life of happiness would be hell on earth." • When Grace finally decided to end her life, the last thing she expected was to meet a stranger simply gazing at the stars, dangling his feet over the edge of the bridge, exactly where she had planned to jump into the abyss and end it all. What was supposed to be the last hour of Grace's life becomes the hour in which she poured her drunken, broken heart out to a stranger over a bottle of scotch and a fresh round of tears. However, before they parted their ways, the stranger offered her a deal: she must promise to hold on to her life for another seventeen days, and afterwards, she could do with it whatever she'd like. He promise to even attend her funeral if he couldn't change her mind. But why seventeen days? And why did this stranger even care? There was more to him than what met the eye, and compelled by her own curiosity, Grace couldn't refuse. Maybe these seventeen days will only prolong her suffering. Or maybe they'll open her eyes to a part of life she never knew existed, full of hope for a brighter future. And maybe, just maybe, she'll learn to fall in love. • [FEATURED UNDER NEW ADULT, YOUNG ADULT, GENERAL FICTION, HUMOR & ROMANCE] • [Extended summary inside] [Started: 1 February'2020] [Finished: 24 January'2021] ©️prettyimbecile
