Not So Savage

Lacey is living in her own personal hell. Her best friend was murdered by her ex-boyfriend and she was forced to go into hiding to protect her family. As she tries to live her life as normally as she can she struggles with her horrible anxiety disorder, a fatherly detective, a growing interest in a boy with as many secrets as her, and people who will stop at nothing to bring her back to the man who ripped her life away from her.

I cleared my throat before I went in to ask the question I came to ask.
"Who's Millie's killer, Hayden?"
He throws up his hands and I almost flinch as the clank of his handcuffs coming back down on the steel table. Almost. "Are you fucking kidding me with this shit? Do you really think your about to get a confession out of me. How dumb are you? She dead Lacey. Get over it."
My voice was deathly quiet. "Get over it? Your stupid asshat of a boss not only had my best friend murdered but ripped away my whole entire life. My mother. My sister's, my whole FUCKING life gone. In an instant. Almost as quick as the bullet that ripped through Millie's chest. Have you ever watched the light go out of somebody's eyes? Of course you have, you kill people on a regular basis. But I'm talking about somebody you care about. Somebody who was your whole life. Have you ever experienced that? You must not have because here you are sitting here telling me to get over it! So until John decides to GET OVER this obsession with making my life a living hell than I'm going to continue to act like a 'physco'. And When that happens maybe I'll be able to go home and actually grieve properly you son-of-a-bitch."
