As they were driving home around one in the morning, Jewel suddenly reached for Maze's hand. "Maze... let's not go home yet. Let's go somewhere." Maze glanced at her. "But it's past midnight, Jewel. Everything's closed." Jewel let go of her hand and looked away, disappointed, staring out the window. They continued in silence. But instead of taking the usual route home, Maze veered toward the freeway. She rolled down the windows, letting the cool night air rush in. Jewel looked at her, a small smile forming. She turned up the radio and stretched her hand out into the wind. It became one of those drives-quiet, wordless, and full of meaning.
