What could be better than being there quarterback on a team with your best friends? Practically nothing. This is Matty Barringer's life. Matty deserves quarterback more than anyone, but people don't give Matty any respect because of one reason. Matty is a girl.

Matty is basically one of the guys, not liking hanging out with other females, mainly because she finds the girls at her school to be extremely annoying. She's never had a crush, but she starts feeling strange things for the new kid, Jayden Carter. She wouldn't think that he e was her type at all, if she had a type. He's a complete art nerd, being a fantastic artist himself.

Districts are coming up, and Matty convinces herself that she doesn't have feelings for Jayden because she can't afford any distractions. But as the feelings start to bubble up inside her, she wonders if having a distraction like Jayden is a risk she's willing to take.
