What happens when your life is a mess? No, you have no one to lean on for that.
Like everyone else, Bridgette has a story behind her somehow apathetic view on life. As if coping with parental loss weren't hard enough, life decided to play on with her identity crisis in a new city. When everyone else seems to be carving their best memories in high school, her's seems to be filled with falling in love with the wrong person, getting caught in running away from life, and teen angst in general.
Except, nothing else seems to be 'general' ever since a particular guy walked into her life like he owned it. Forgetting your wrong love of the past would be hard work, but moving on for all the wrong reasons while finding yourself in the process, doesn't make it easier.
Unbound By Sea pictures the urban life of teens and the complexities of the city souls. It's all about drifting away from people you love, being lost in an isolated world, running away from reality, and despite an era of 'no boundaries', being unbound by sea.

For the booksmart yet naïve 16-year-old Nicky, high school in her quaint little hometown island in the Philippines had always been predictable. Until that senior year. Nicky thought she got things all figured out. She'd be very good at school and be the valedictorian of the single-section class of 2010 of the highly looked-up science high school in their island. And then, she'd get a full scholarship to her dream university. All was fairly well except for a few things like grappling her feelings towards a long-time crush. Just when Nicky thought she could get through high school without too much boy-drama, a somewhat seemingly love life with a boy or two and suddenly, maybe even three was finally catching up with her during the last few months before high school graduation. She had never thought she could be wrong about a person. And that she could always be wrong about boys... ✨✨✨ Sidenote: I wrote this from November 2010 to April 2011, only a year ahead from the time set in the novel. This was fully uploaded on Wattpad in September 2013 for safekeeping. I hadn't gotten back to it in so many years nor find any means and time to promote it. What's the point in living in a world that doesn't even accept you? Having no acceptance in her family nor in the society. Having to go through bullying in school every other day. Losing someone so close to her when she had no one. Being played by a person she cared for. Having to leave all of her plans she worked hard for just because her parents plan to move to a country she hasn't been to. And even there, even after things do get better another adds; like being cheated on by her own boyfriend and then falling for someone else while having an on and off relationship with her boyfriend.
