The mere idea of someone else occupying his lover's mind, even if it's in hatred, sets Thomas on edge. Bella Swan likes Edward, unaware of the nature of their relationship, despite the rumors. Thomas isn't cruel, he tolerates her presense as her and Edward grow to be friends. In fact, Thomas may start to care for her as well...as long as she doesn't steal his man.
