Jade Mitsuko Rowen has had everything taken away from her: her home, her life, even her family.
Ever since her mother's death, she's been traveling the world with her father, a well known writer. After five years of constantly being uprooted and settling somewhere else, Jade has erected walls and pushes everyone away.
To her shock, her father sends her to live with his relatives in the U.S.: his sister, her husband and their teenage daughter. Now she has to deal with getting along with strangers who supposedly are family, a whole new culture, language, and school.
Will these new people break through her stone walls, or will Jade continue to be like her namesake: coldly beautiful, yet covered with open scars?
