Jupiter Crosby has always been the wallflower. She thinks the rebellious kids at her school who call themselves "Riots" don't believe in values, she thinks they have no feelings or concerns over the ones they hurt. But she doesn't know the true reason for their defiance: they've been hurt themselves. Sometimes too many times. Alex "Spades" Hunt is a Riot, and when he meets wallflower Jupiter, he decides to challenge her. If he can make her a Riot by the end of summer, she has to go through with the ultimate dare. If she makes him a wallflower, he has to stop drinking, smoking, and bullying. But when they learn more about each other it complicates the game, and they both may be leaning towards the sides they don't want to become. Jupiter understands why he's a rebel, and he sees why she's a wallflower. But her innocence-her light-influences him, and it might actually save him. Because then again, black isn't just for rebels.
